When does Chicago Med season 6 premiere?

Normally this month would be the start of Chicago Med season 6, but the TV world has changed. So when does Chicago Med season 6 premiere on NBC, why is it different in 2020, and what’s up next when the show comes back?

The COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the world has also affected TV and film production across the United States. Med was one of the many series that wasn’t able to start shooting on time over the summer because it wasn’t safe for casts and crews to be working. The show is back in production now, but obviously is behind schedule.

That then has a ripple effect down to when NBC is able to start showing new episodes, because they need a certain number of episodes on hand to broadcast. So rather than a September launch, the new Chicago Med season will start on Wednesday, November 11 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. That’s the same time slot as last year.

What’s in store during the new season? So far, there have been no major cast changes, but it looks like we’ll have at least one new couple when the show returns. It’s also not clear if the writers will address COVID-19 in any upcoming episodes.
