Chicago Med season 6, episode 6 preview: Don't Want To Face This Now

Will Maggie Lockwood be the next Chicago Med character to experience heartbreak?

“Don’t Want To Face This Now” primarily deals with Maggie’s (Marlyne Barrett) struggle as she searches for a donor for her foster son Auggie. He’s in desperate need of a transplant, and Maggie has already gone above and beyond to look for options.

However, this show really likes tragic endings. Remember the previous storyline where parents were convinced to abandon their child at the hospital so he’d get proper medical care?

Or Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) getting remarried, only for the show to kill off his wife by having her illness return?

There are quite a few examples of Med not having storylines turn out well, and since the show usually likes to move on from its recurring plots when most of the drama is gone, it wouldn’t be a shock for the writers to wrap up Auggie’s story here by killing him off and making Maggie grieve.

That doesn’t mean it’s the only option (and hopefully it’s not the one that comes to pass). But there’s reason to be worried going into tonight’s episode.

Elsewhere, the series is continuing to show how Will’s clinical trial is unfolding, and he seems to be doing much better—but when will that back-room deal he made with Dr. Mayfield come back to hurt him? He has to face the consequences of that at some point.

Also speaking of precedent, he’s looking increasingly more chummy with Dr. Sabeena Virani (guest star Tehmina Sunny, who returns in this episode). It likewise would not be a shock if Chicago Med ships them, since people who work closely together in this ED usually end up sleeping together in time.

We’ve seen that with Will’s ex Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto), who’s currently locking lips with Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains), but who will undoubtedly spend this week asking him about his ex-wife who just came back into the picture.

Will doesn’t need a new relationship right now. He didn’t need the last relationship he was in. What he needs is a friend, someone who can give him a swift push forward as he continues to do some soul-searching, and it would be nice to see his partnership with Dr. Virani open some doors for him in that way.

But that’s not how this show usually operates. Audiences will have to see what clues we get about that and everyone else’s personal relationships tonight.
