When is the Chicago Fire season 9 finale?

It’s been an unusual year for Chicago Fire fans. Due to the pandemic, Chicago Fire season 8 was forced to wrap production earlier than expected resulting in a shortened season and earlier than usual finale date in 2020. Production on Chicago Fire season 9 then started later than usual leading to the new season kicking off in November rather than in September, when most seasons have typically begun.

Following the delayed start to season 9, fans have had to deal with quite an unpredictable schedule which has made keeping up with the season harder than ever what with the numerous random breaks NBC has scheduled.

While there have been a lot of unpredicted effects on the season caused by the pandemic, there seems to be at least one thing that won’t be changing this season: the month in which NBC’s One Chicago series sign off for the season!

Although Chicago Fire season 9 did not begin until November 2020, the season will still come to a close in May 2021. May has long been the month that marks the conclusion of the standard fall season and it seems NBC will be sticking to that timeline this year with the Chicago Fire season 9 finale scheduled for Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

Is Chicago Fire season 10 happening?

Although there are only a few episodes left before Chicago Fire season 9 comes to an end this May, the good news is that NBC won’t be saying goodbye to Firehouse 51 anytime soon!

In February 2020, NBC handed out a massive three-season renewal to Chicago Fire which included a ninth, tenth and eleventh season. As such, Chicago Fire season 10 is indeed happening and is likely to premiere sometime in Fall 2021.
