Chicago PD season 8, episode 13 preview: Trouble Dolls
The next Chicago PD once again presents Kim Burgess with a family-related issue, but will this episode end better than the last time the show broached that subject?
In “Trouble Dolls,” Burgess (Marina Squerciati) has to make a major decision involving Makayla, the young girl she first met in “Tender Age” and went on to serve as a foster parent for.
The last time One Chicago discussed Burgess and motherhood, it was when she lost her own unborn child at the end of “I Was Here” last season.

And as many fans have noted, the franchise doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to kids. The shows usually don’t have a happy ending if it involves the main characters and children.
Will Kim end up choosing Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) to be Makayla’s guardian, somehow bringing them closer together and reigniting that relationship that still doesn’t have a label?
Or will the writers come up with some tragic ending where this forces Burzek apart even more or Kim has some kind of setback that forces her to give up Makayla, like we’ve seen in the past with Gabriela Dawson on Chicago Fire as well as Maggie Lockwood on Chicago Med?

Here’s another question we may or may not get answered tonight: what happened to Officer Andre Cooper (Cleveland Berto), the character introduced as a replacement for Vanessa Rojas? We haven’t heard much from him since Chicago PD first brought him in, which seems strange for a character who was supposedly on track to become a series regular.
Since this is a Burgess story, we probably won’t see much of Cooper, but it would be nice to know what he’s up to if audiences are supposed to be getting used to him as a member of Intelligence. Maybe there will start to be some setup toward the season finale, which happens in just a few weeks, and we’ll get more screen time for him as well.
