Chicago PD Sneek Peek: Voight questions Upstead’s decision making (Exclusive)
By Cody Schultz
Things are about to get quite interesting for Upstead fans! In tonight’s new episode of Chicago PD, titled “Safe,” Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) ends up caught between her sergeant and her partner (and not-so-secret boo) as the Intelligence Unit work a home invasion case which Upton finds herself deeply immersed in.
In this exclusive sneak peek, Voight (Jason Beghe) comes to Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).and Upton for an update on the status of their informant after their originally planned meet with a suspect goes awry. While it seems the first location for the meet was optimal, the new location proposed is much more desolate with little pedestrian traffic leading Upstead to believe it could be set up as a hit.
“It’s too risky and there’s too many variables. We should hold him and chase other leads,” Halstead argues in the video.

Clearly not sold on Halstead’s recommendation, Voight inquires as to whether Upton agrees and, after a moment’s hesitation, she backs Halstead up in agreeing that chasing other leads would be the safest play. Before Voight can fully process their recommendation, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) interrupts the conversation with some shocking news.
As she reveals, the victim of one of the home invasions under investigation has succumbed to his injuries noting that their home invasion had just turned into murder. And with that news, Voight immediately seems to throw out Upstead’s recommendation to chase other leads in deciding they need to act quickly and use the informant as bait.
