Chicago Fire promotes fan favorite to series regular ahead of season 10
By Cody Schultz
Firehouse 51’s paramedic turnaround seems to finally be coming to a halt as Chicago Fire has just handed out a major promotion to 51’s newest addition.
As first reported by TVLine, NBC has promoted actress Hanako Greensmith to series regular ahead of the show’s upcoming tenth season! The promotion comes after Greensmith previously joined the cast in a recurring role as Violet Mikami and assures fans that there will be much more to come from 51’s new paramedic.
While exciting, the promotion isn’t too surprising as the season 9 finale seemed to suggest big things were ahead for Violet — particularly in the romance department. We’re of course referring to the not-so-subtle hints that sparks could soon be flying once again between Violet and Gallo (Alberto Rosende).
Now that Greensmith has been promoted to a series regular, fans should expect the writers to further explore the flirtation between the two characters while also further establishing Violet’s place as a member of 51.
When did Hanako Greensmith join Chicago Fire?
Greensmith first joined Chicago Fire in season 8, episode 10, “Hold Our Ground,” in what started as a four-episode arc which saw her introduced as a paramedic with a history with Gallo. Their rivalry quickly turned into something more as sparks flew between the two before they ultimately went their separate ways.

Following the conclusion of her four-episode guest arc in season 8, Greensmith returned in the ninth episode of season 9, “Double Red,” as the replacement for 51’s departing paramedic Gianna Mackey (Adriyan Rae).
