Chicago Fire, PD and Med yet again snubbed by Emmys
By Cody Schultz
We once again get to be the bearer of bad news: Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med have all been overlooked by the Emmy voters and will not be competing for TV’s most coveted honor this September.
Nominations for the 2021 Emmy Awards were announced on the morning of July 13 in a virtual ceremony that shared the list of actors, actresses, and shows vying for an Emmy this year. While the list was filled with incredible and deserving shows and talent, the One Chicago franchise series once again failed to land on the radar of the Emmy voters.
While unfortunate, it’s not exactly surprising as the Emmys tend to overlook most broadcast series nowadays, especially tried and true favorites such as procedurals and medical dramas. It’s also often said that if a show isn’t able to catch Emmy voters’ attention during their first few seasons, it’s unlikely they’ll get any love in later years — which seems to be the case for Chicago Fire and its companion series.

This Is Us once again managed to secure a handful of nominations at this year’s event — six to be exact — including a nod for the show in this year’s Outstanding Drama category and nominations for several of the show’s cast.
