Production on season 10 of NBC’s hit drama Chicago Fire is officially underway with filming taking place once again throughout the city of Chicago including at the usual destinations including the firehouse which doubles as Firehouse 51 in the show. With the new season coming this September, the cast and crew are hard at work which has led to the usual influx of casting calls in the areas for extras for the show.

While these casting calls are nothing unusual for a show like Chicago Fire, a recent casting call for Chicago Fire season 10 has fans convinced it’s a sign that a certain member of Squad will live to see another day.

According to a casting call making the rounds on social media and Reddit, NBC is rumored to be searching for male and female extras to appear at a baby shower in the upcoming series of the show.

Although no details or further context has been provided, fans have been quick to theorize that the casting call is for what would be Cruz (Joe Minoso) and Chloe’s (Kristen Gutoskie) baby shower.

Will Joe Cruz be in Chicago Fire season 10?

With NBC rumored to be looking for extras to appear at a baby shower, the One Chicago fandom is convinced the casting call is a sign that Cruz will survive the ordeal Squad found themselves in as season 9 came to a close.

As fans have pointed out, before Cruz and the rest of Squad found themselves trapped underwater without any air in their tanks during an underwater rescue in the final moments of the season, he mentioned that his baby shower was to take place after their shift.

If Cruz weren’t to survive the ordeal, one has to imagine the baby shower would be called off as we can’t imagine Chloe wanting to throw a celebration if something had happened to Cruz on the call. Because a baby shower scene is in the works, the running theory among fans is that Cruz and the rest of Squad make it out okay and will be back in action next season.

While we’ll have to wait until the season 10 premiere to know for certain whether Cruz will live or die, the odds are definitely looking favorable for 51’s long-time firefighter and we definitely can’t wait to see what hijinks could ensue at his and Chloe’s baby shower!
