Chicago Fire season 10: Will Monica Raymund return as Dawson?

As we look ahead to Chicago Fire season 10, there is a lot to look forward to. Sure, the first thing that likely comes to mind is knowing that the arrival of the new season will bring with it closure to the many season 9 cliffhangers, but there is also a lot of other things for fans to look forward to in the upcoming season.

For one, we’re expecting the return of the One Chicago crossover events with the plan currently being for the casts of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago PD to come together in each show’s second episode this season. Then there is Chicago Fire‘s 200th episode, expected to air sometime in October.

Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas has already confirmed the show has big plans in place for the show’s milestone episode, but could those plans include the return of any favorite characters such as Monica Raymund‘s Gabby Dawson?

Since exiting the series after season 6, Raymund has made two guest appearances on the show making her one of few cast members to return after their character’s exit from the show. Given her status as a fan favorite and the fact that milestone episodes tend to bring back familiar faces, could Chicago Fire‘s 200th episode pave the way for Raymund to return once again?

Will Monica Raymund be in Chicago Fire season 10?

At this time, NBC has not yet confirmed whether Monia Raymund will be returning for Chicago Fire season 10; however, it’s looking unlikely that we’ll be seeing Dawson making her way back to the Windy City this fall.

While we can’t rule out another guest appearance from Raymund this fall as there is always a chance the writers could look to find a way to bring her back into the fold timed to the show’s 200th episode, season 9 seemed to hint that the show was ready to finally put Dawson’s story to rest — at least for the time being.

In season 9, Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Dawson had a pair of off-screen conversations which helped him to finally come to the realization that his heart now belongs to Brett (Kara Killmer) and that she is his future, not Dawson. The moment seemed to finally close the book on the pair’s firey romance and the last inkling of hope among Dawsey fans for a reunion between the two characters.

Because the writers have made it clear Casey has truly moved on and is ready to see what the future holds with Brett, we can’t imagine they’d bring Dawson back only a few episodes later or that the story in the works would merit a return.

Sure we’d love to see Raymund return for another guest appearance, but it seems the plan is to fully explore Casey’s new relationship with Brett. Now that Casey has fully moved on and is beginning a new relationship with Brett, a return appearance from Dawson would seem like a step back in the progress made last season which we don’t imagine the writers will look to take.
