Chicago PD villain to make surprise return to One Chicago franchise

One iconic Chicago PD villain is eyeing a comeback to the One Chicago franchise in the most unexpected of ways.

When it comes to hated One Chicago villains, none quite manage to compare to Chicago PD‘s Denny Woods (Mykelti Williamson). From the moment the character was first introduced at the end of season 4, it was clear he was going to be a major thorn in the Intelligence Unit’s side but nothing could prepare fans for just how much trouble Woods would end up causing during his time on the show.

From putting Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) into the uncomfortable position of being a mole on the team to the role he played in the death of Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas), it goes without saying that fans were thrilled when Woods’ actions finally caught up with him in season 5 leading to his incarceration.

While we thought we had seen the last of Mykelti Williamson within the One Chicago franchise following Woods’ sendoff, it seems the actor is staging a comeback with an unexpected behind-the-scenes role.

Chicago PD star Mykelti Williamson to direct episode of Chicago Med

While there is always the chance we could see Mykelti Williamson return to Chicago PD to reprise his role of Denny Woods, given the character was alive when we last left him, Williamson’s return to the One Chicago franchise this fall will instead be coming via Chicago Med. 

As revealed by Chicago Med star Dominic Rains, Williamson is returning to the One Chicago franchise this fall as a director of an upcoming episode of Chicago Med‘s seventh season!

The exact episode Williamson will be directing remains to be seen, but judging by Rains’ Instagram selfie we’re predicting his character Dr. Crockett Marcel might play a larger role in the episode which is always a win for fans!

This will be the fourth episode Williamson will have been involved with in a directing capacity on Chicago Med with Williamson previously directing a pair of season 6 episodes as well as a season 5 episode. He is also credited for directing three episodes of Chicago PD.
