Chicago Med season 7 adds Michael Rady in mystery role

It seems Chicago Med is about to add yet another new doctor to its rotation this fall with the casting of a television veteran in a mysterious new role for the show’s upcoming seventh season.

As revealed by newly promoted series regular Steven Weber via Instagram, Michael Rady will be joining the Chicago Med cast for what is currently an unknown role. While NBC has not yet announced Rady’s casting, it appears he’ll be joining the cast in a yet to be determined role as one of Chicago Med’s newest doctors as evident in the behind-the-scenes photo from Weber confirming Rady’s casting.

“The doctors are IN,” Weber wrote in the caption of his latest photo from the set of Chicago Med in which he poses alongside Nick Gehlfuss and Rady from the set of the show. While the photo does not reveal any information about Rady’s role directly, it does confirm he will be playing a doctor on the show as evident by him rocking the maroon scrubs associated with Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s Emergency Department.

It’s going to be interesting to see who exactly Rady might be playing this season on Med and exactly how large of a role he’ll have in the upcoming season. Given there has been no formal casting announcement yet, it’s possible he could be dropping in for a smaller guest arc; however, it’s just as possible he could be joining the show as a new series regular or in a recurring role.

Of course, should Michael Rady be joining the show in a recurring or series regular role, he’ll be the third new cast member added to the Chicago Med cast this season. As we know, season 7 is set to introduce Guy Lockard and Kristen Hager as new series regulars Dr. Dylan Scott and Dr. Stevie Hammer, respectively.

The trio’s casting comes on the heels of Torrey DeVitto and Yaya DaCosta’s departures from the series after six seasons of playing Dr. Natalie Manning and Nurse April Sexton, respectively, across seasons 1-6.

In addition to the new blood infused into the season 7 cast, fans can also expect the returns of Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, Brian Tee, Marlyne Barrett, and Dominic Rains, as well as the aforementioned Nick Gehlfuss and  Steven Weber.
