Chicago PD: Did Tracy Spiridakos just reveal a major Upstead spoiler?

There are a lot of questions on the minds of Chicago PD fans as we look ahead to season 9, particularly when looking ahead to what the upcoming season has in store for one of our favorite couples: Upstead!

As season 8 came to a close, Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) found herself in an unwinnable situation when she ended up getting dragged into Voight’s (Jason Beghe) mess and shot his tortured suspect after he got a hold of Voight’s gun.

After making her way home after the ordeal with Voight — who was last seen covering their tracks — Upton dropped a major bombshell when she asked Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) to marry her. It was a question no one expected Upston to ask and one that has left fans talking all offseason.

Do Upton and Halstead get engaged in Chicago PD season 9?

While it wasn’t exactly how we would have predicted an Upstead proposal to happen, now that the question is out in the air, fans can’t help but wonder whether Halstead will accept her proposal.

Thus far this offseason, there haven’t been any major spoilers regarding the question on all of our minds; however, the newest photo shared from the set by Tracy Spiridakos definitely has us wondering what could be ahead for the pair.

In the photo, Spiridakos poses alongside her costars Jesse Lee Soffer, Jason Beghe, and LaRoyce Hawkins on the set of season 9. While the photo itself doesn’t seem to contain any spoilers about the upcoming season, there is one glaring omission that has us curious: the lack of any type of rings on Spiridakos or Soffer’s hands.

Could the lack of rings be a hint that the pair won’t be getting engaged after all and that perhaps Halstead recognizes something isn’t right and talks Upton out of the idea? Or could it be that the pair did get engaged, but simply haven’t told anyone on the team and therefore aren’t wearing rings in looking to keep their news on the down-low?

We’ll have to wait until the season 9 premiere on Sept. 22 to know for certain how Halstead will react to Upton’s proposal, but an Upstead engagement definitely could be coming as early this season.
