This September, Jon Seda returns to NBC in the network’s most-talked-about new series of the fall season: La Brea, a high-concept fantasy drama focusing on a family torn apart after a massive sinkhole mysteriously opens in Los Angeles, transporting those who fell into it to a primeval land.

The series has the potential to be the biggest new show of the fall season across all of the broadcast networks and the excitement is quickly building for the series with NBC releasing new promotional materials which have given us our first true glimpses of what to expect from the series premiere later this month.

La Brea series premiere date

Although NBC’s fall season will kick off the week of Sept. 20, NBC is holding the series premiere of La Brea for the following week with the show’s pilot set to premiere Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 9/8c on NBC.

It’s clear NBC is hoping to set the series up for its best chances of success by scheduling the series premiere behind The Voice which remains one of the network’s top programs. The 9 p.m. timeslot has also proved quite successful for This Is Us, so here’s hoping Seda’s new series will be able to keep the momentum going!

Interestingly, NBC hasn’t yet released an official synopsis for the series premiere of La Brea; however, we have been gifted with our complete synopsis for the series which offers up a glimpse into what awaits us as the new series begins.

Here is how TV Guide describes the upcoming season of NBC’s new fantasy series:

"“An epic adventure begins when a massive sinkhole opens in the middle of Los Angeles, pulling hundreds of people and buildings into its depths. Those who fell in find themselves in a mysterious and dangerous primeval land, where they have no choice but to band together to survive.”"

Looking ahead to the series premiere, we’re anticipating a lot of action and drama as the series looks to introduce us to the central characters and plot points which will unfold across the first season. As we can see in the first look photos from the premiere, things definitely get intense between the core characters which seems like a more than an understandable reaction to a giant sinkhole opening up in the middle of LA.

The first look photos also help to provide us with our first look at Jon Seda’s character Dr. Sam Velez, who’s been described as a stern father who carries himself like an Army general.
