It looks like yet another original cast member from Dick Wolf’s hit FBI franchise has worked their last case as part of the FBI: Most Wanted cast.

Actor Kellan Lutz, who originated the role of Special Agent Ken Crosby in the backdoor pilot for the FBI offshoot and has appeared as a series regular across the show’s first two seasons, has announced his exit from the series. Word of Lutz’s departure as a series regular comes after his character was shot in the season 3 opener, with his recovery storyline being designed as an exit storyline for the character.

He is the second original cast member to depart the show following the exit of Nathaniel Arcand in the show’s second season, his exit being confirmed at the end of the season.

Is Kellan Lutz leaving FBI: Most Wanted?

Unfortunately, Kellan Lutz is leaving FBI: Most Wanted and will not appear as a series regular moving forward. Lutz confirmed his departure from the series on Sept. 22, one day after the FBI franchise’s 3-part premiere crossover event.

During the crossover event, Lutz’s character, Agent Ken Crosby, was shot by a suspect while assisting the FBI team track down a murder suspect. After being shot, Crosby was rushed into emergency surgery and things weren’t looking good for most of the crossover.

Fortunately, Crosby pulled through in the closing hour of the crossover and was last seen heading off to Oklahoma to stay with his parents while recovering from his injury. Upon the airing of the initial crossover, it seemed like the storyline was simply part of a plotline that would play into Crosby’s arc this season; however, it appears it was instead introduced as an exit storyline for Lutz.

Why did Kellan Lutz leave FBI: Most Wanted?

While some character departures are the result of creative decisions made on behalf of the writers, Agent Crosby’s exit storyline was the result of Kellan Lutz’s desire to leave the show in order to move his family back to California.

"“After a lot of prayer and reflection I made the difficult decision to move my growing family back to CA so our daughter could grow up with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, just a short drive away,” Lutz revealed in an emotional statement shared on social media."

Although Lutz is stepping away from the series at the moment, his exit is on good terms and he made it clear to fans he hopes to be able to revisit the character in the future from time to time.
