Chicago PD spoilers: Is a fallout coming between Voight and Halstead?
By Cody Schultz
With the Roy storyline about to come to a head on Chicago PD, it seems inevitable that a fallout could be coming between Voight (Jason Beghe) and Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer). After all, Voight is responsible for pulling Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) into this mess and then covering it up and icing Halstead out in covering their tracks.
As we saw in the first promo for the episode, Upton seems to be heading towards her breaking point and it looks like the secret she’s been carrying since the season 8 finale is about to finally come out.
Also teased in the promo is an intense moment between Voight and Halstead in which Voight tells a clearly distraught Halstead that he “doesn’t know the woman he’s sleeping next to.” Needless to say, Voight and Halstead have always had a complicated relationship but with Upton’s secret about to come to light could this be the straw that finally breaks the camel’s back?
Do Voight and Halstead respect each other?
Considering their varying views on policing and coloring outside the lines, Halstead and Voight have always been the yin to one another’s yang. They might not always see eye to eye on things, but as Jesse Lee Soffer reminds us, they do both have mutual respect for one another which is likely to be tested when Upton’s secret comes to light.
“They both respect each other, and they both recognize that they’re very different but they’re both good cops that want the best for the city — they just go about it in slightly different ways,” Soffer noted when asked about a potential fallout between the characters this season.

While Soffer was unable to reveal exactly how Halstead will react to the secret Upton and Voight have been keeping from him this season, he did make it clear that the events of the season 8 finale are going to force the pair to grow in new ways.
“I think it will be interesting this season because if a character’s not growing, what’s the point? I think both characters are going to have grow a little and either grow together or grow apart or grow apart and then grow together,” Soffer previewed. “This is such a heavy thing that happened at the end of season 8 and it’s going to force that kind of growth, I think.”
