Chicago PD season 9 episode 5 promo, synopsis and photos

Last week on Chicago PD, as the Intelligence Unit worked to bring down a serial killer responsible for the kidnapping, abuse, and deaths of several young boys, Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) began to spiral in struggling with her actions and the secret she’s been harboring since the season 8 finale.

As Upton neared her breaking point, Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) finally began putting the pieces together leading to a confrontation between Halstead and Voight (Jason Beghe) as the episode came to an end. It was at that moment, Voight spilled the beans in revealing the full truth causing Halstead to take a swing at Voight before heading home where he came face to face with Upton before the episode faded to black.

Considering last week’s episode ended with a major cliffhanger in teasing the confrontation between Upston and Halstead after he learned the truth, one would have assumed that storyline would take center stage in this week’s promotional materials.

However, the promo for episode 5 instead shifts the focus to Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) who is about to find himself in a precarious situation when a woman he seems to have a romantic connection with finds herself at the heart of the team’s latest case.

Could this be the mystery love interest the writers have been teasing or might the steamier moments in the promo below be a red herring? Given Atwater seems to go rogue in the promo below, we definitely are beginning to wonder!
