Who is Wendy Seager on Chicago Fire?

Chicago Fire has a big gap to fill with the departure of Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer). There was a greater sense of teamwork than ever on the latest episode, but there was also the return of a character fans hadn’t seen in a while: Wendy Seager (Andy Allo).

Seager worked the primary storyline of the episode alongside Severide (Taylor Kinney), and there were even a few hints that she may be interested in Severide romantically. Given that Seager has been away from Chicago Fire for so long, however, there may be some fans who don’t know her past with the rest of the Firehouse 51 squad.

Andy Allo plays Seager on Chicago Fire season 10

Wendy Seager was first introduced in the season 8 episode “Welcome to Crazytown”. She was a recurring character in the handful of episodes that followed, though she was never involved in the core storylines. The most significant aspect of her character is that she often butted heads with Severide over how to handle specific suspects.

Seager is a Lieutenant for the Office of Fire Investigation (OFI), so whenever she comes around to Firehouse 51 she works closely with Severide. This was how things operated throughout season 8, and given the ongoing nature of the current case involving the church fire, it looks as though she will stick around for a multi-episode arc.

Chicago Fire showrunners have not yet announced whether Seager will become a main cast member or merely a transitional piece to help make up for Casey’s absence, but her presence is welcome either way. The brief conversation Seager and Severide had about Stella hinted at some potential flirtation, at least on the part of Seager, as she offered to get a drink with Severide later on. We could definitely see this being a source of tension as season 10 unfolds.

Seager is played by actress Andy Allo. She may be familiar to audiences through her supporting role in Pitch Perfect 3 (2017), as well as her starring role in the Amazon series Upload. In addition to her film career, Allo is an accomplished musician. She was a member of Prince’s band The New Power Generation, and regularly worked with the pop star on his solo albums. Her last project to date was 2017’s One Step Closer.
