In the 200th episode of Chicago Fire, Captain Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) decided to leave the city of Chicago in order to move to Oregon to foster Ben and Griffin Darden.

The storyline was introduced as an exit storyline for actor Jesse Spencer, who opted to leave the show in order to finally take a break from acting after 18 years on television between his roles on House and Chicago Fire.

In wake of Casey’s departure from 51, one of the lingering questions on the minds of fans has been the mystery of who exactly will replace Casey as the Truck’s new lieutenant.

While many have assumed the role would go to Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), Kidd remains out of the picture at the moment setting up Girls on Fire programs in other major cities. Instead, it seems a new character is about to enter the fold and we’ve not been given our first look at Casey’s replacement.

Who is replacing Casey at firehouse 51?

Although the identity of the character remains unknown still at this time, a new still from the upcoming seventh episode of Chicago Fire season 10 has provided us with our first look at Casey’s replacement in action!

In the newly released image, our yet-to-be-named lieutenant is seen by Boden’s (Eamonn Walker) side at the scene of an accident. Given the way Boden is holding the young girl in the photo and the mystery lieutenant’s body language in the image, we’re guessing the young girl might have just been pulled from one of the burning cars pictured in the background in the nick of time.

As the synopsis for the episode teases, Gallo (Alberto Rosende) won’t click right away with Casey’s replacement but could this call be a turning point that helps win Casey’s new replacement some brownie points with 51’s young firefighter?

Although NBC has yet to release the character name or confirm the actor behind said character, the image also provides us with confirmation that 51’s newest addition seems to be played by Agents of SHIELD star Brett Dalton.

Is Brett Dalton joining Chicago Fire

At this time, NBC has yet to announce Brett Dalton’s casting on Chicago Fire; however, it does appear Dalton has joined the cast — as evident by the photos released from episode 7, “Whom Shall I Fear?”.

What should be interesting is to see exactly how Dalton’s character is brought into the fold and how he’ll click with the rest of 51. Considering he’s replacing Casey, we imagine Gallo might not be the only person at 51 who requires time to warm up to the house’s new addition which could lead to some interesting developments.

It will also be interesting to see how long Dalton might end up sticking around. As revealed in the synopsis for episode 7, his role at 51 is going to be a temporary one to start so it’s possible this could be a guest-arc or recurring role to begin.

Should the fans warm up to the character, it’s possible the writers could look to expand his time at 51 by exploring the possibility of making him a more permanent fixture on the show. We’ll just have to tune in to see or wait for NBC to officially confirm the status of Dalton’s role.
