Chicago PD spoilers: What happened in season 9 episode 7?
Chicago PD shifted the focus yet again in season 9. Last week was all about Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) and his struggle to keep his faith in police work as a profession. This week, the focus is on Voight (Jason Beghe) and the cat-and-mouse game he’s forced to play with a new informant.
In addition to the central plot involving Voight and a snitch, there’s the increasingly distrustful Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), who feels as though he can’t take his boss at his word. Halstead and Voight run afoul of each other a couple times in this week’s episode, building towards a seemingly big confrontation.

What happened on Chicago PD last night? (November 3rd)
The episode, titled “Trust Me“, opens with a drug bust gone wrong. A routine deal goes haywire, and a woman nearly ran over Halstead as he arrived on the scene. The woman, Anna Arvos (Carmela Zumbado), is a DEA informant, and she’s willing to give Voight crucial info on the dealers in exchange for money. Voight agrees to play ball.
Anna feeds him information about the next place a drug hit is scheduled to take place, but it turns out to be a false lead. Halstead warns Voight about trusting her, as a result, but Voight puts him in his place and assures him that he knows what he’s doing. Still, Anna’s alliances remain unclear.
Anna works her way into a meeting with Luis, the man behind the drug hits, and she agrees to wear a wire during the rendezvous. The situation takes a turn for the stressful, however, and a panicked Halstead decides to ruin CPD cover and move in. Voight is forced to call in a patrol car to cover up Halstead’s presence, and he later reprimands him for violating a direct order to stay put.

Luis winds up dead after a series of twists and turns, and Anna orchestrated hits to her benefit by planting drugs at specific locations. She cops to this when Voight confronts her, but he doesn’t call off their working relationship. Even when Halstead tries to imply that Anna is being deceptive, Voight shuts him down. This leads Halstead to question whether he can even trust his boss anymore.
There’s a little bit of fleshing out down with Halstead and Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), who have cooled their romance since the former found out about Upton’s cover up. She finally breaks, though, and chastises Halstead for treating her differently since her secret was unveiled. In short, Halstead is having a difficult time, and it feels as though he’s headed straight for a showdown with Voight.
