Law and Order season 21 earns spot on NBC’s midseason schedule

It’s been less than two months since NBC announced it was dusting Law and Order off the shelf, yet NBC has already set a return date for Law and Order season 21 — and we have to admit it’s much sooner than we ever would have imagined it would be!

Although it seemed likely the series might debut sometime in the fall of 2022, NBC has instead announced Law and Order season 21 will premiere as part of its midseason lineup where it will join fellow Law and Order series Law and Order: SVU and Law and Order: Organized Crime.

Law and Order season 21 will debut on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 8/7c in the opening spot of what will be a night of Law and Order franchise programs.

What’s perhaps most interesting is that while NBC has set a premiere date for Law and Order season 21, NBC has not yet announced the full cast for the revival of its beloved drama.

Thus far, the only member of the cast who has been confirmed is new addition Jeffrey Donovan who has joined the cast as a police officer — though no additional information about his character has been revealed.

With a release date now set, we should begin to learn more about the Law and Order season 21 cast in the coming weeks as NBC gets closer to the show’s premiere date. Of course, the lingering question is which members of the original series might return for the rebooted season including what the future might hold for S. Epatha Merkerson.

As soon as any information on the cast is revealed, we’ll be sure to update you but for now, we can at least start counting down the days until season 21 debuts in February.
