Dark Woods is making the jump to the big screen. The Dick Wolf-produced podcast has been a critical and commercial favorite since it debuted November 8, and now its headed to the small screen. According to Deadline, Dark Woods will be adapted by Universal Television, which has already had success adopting other podcasts on TV.

Dark Woods centers around the body of a young volunteer that’s discovered in the California redwoods. Two ex-spouses, an embittered warden, and a councilwoman are brought together in light of the discovery, and must learn to put their differences aside if they want to uncover the truth and bring the volunteer’s murderer to justice.

The Dick Wolf connection may be of interest to One Chicago fans, given the producers involvement with all three programs, as well as One Chicago-adjacent shows like Law & Order and FBI. Fans will be even more excited to learn one of the Dark Woods stars is Chicago Fire alum Monica Raymund.

Dark Woods also stars Corey Stoll and Reid Scott, though it remains to be seen whether they and Raymund will reprise their roles in the TV adaptation. Raymund was last seen in the eighth season of Chicago Fire, and while the door remains open for her character to return, the actress has made it clear that she’s also pursuing other opportunities.

The Dark Woods TV series will be directed by Takashi Doscher and written by David Pergolini. It will be executive produced by Dick Wolf and Elliot Wolf, with the latter being credited for leading the charge with the Universal deal.

“We have always had an eye on developing this story for television”, Elliot Wolf told the outlet. “We’re thrilled that our partners at Universal Television share that vision.” Officially, Dark Woods will be produced by Wolf Entertainment and Endeavor Content in association with Waverunner Studios.

A proper start date/release date has not been announced.
