From the moment Casey (Jesse Spencer) left Chicago behind to move to Oregon to foster the Darden brothers, the burning question on the minds of fans has been who exactly will step in as the new lieutenant of Truck 81.

When Casey left, the immediate assumption among fans was that the position would go to Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). Kidd, of course, recently passed her lieutenant exam and has been waiting to find a house with an opening; however, that was before she left town to set up Girls on Fire programs across various cities.

Enter Jason Pelham (Brett Dalton), a floater brought in to fill 51’s lieutenant void who has suddenly emerged as a strong candidate for Casey’s former job. In fact, the most recent episode of season 10 seemed to be suggesting Boden (Eamonn Walker) was strongly considering making Pelham a permanent fixture at 51.

Is Pelham going to join Chicago Fire permanently?

While it remains to be seen whether Pelham will be sticking around for the long haul, it does appear that he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

In newly released behind the scenes photos from director of photography Anthony Lullo, Brett Dalton can be seen still on set filming new scenes as Pelham which suggests he’s still a part of 51’s team.

Check out the behind the scenes photos below:

Although it’s unclear what episode the cast and crew are working on, we know it has to be at least beyond the midseason finale which is a positive sign for Pelham fans as it seems to suggest the character won’t be walking off into the sunset in the fall finale.

Given Kidd is expected to make her way back to Chicago in the midseason finale, it seems only reasonable that the show would spend at least a few episodes exploring her reaction to Pelham’s arrival and exploring the debate on who should be the new lieutenant of Truck 81.
