Law and Order is back, and its quickly recovering all of the cast members that fans have come to adore. Deadline reports that Anthony Anderson will be returning to the Law and Order universe after being introduced in season 18 of the procedural staple.

Anderson will reprise his role as Detective Kevin Bernard, who served as one of the core ensemble players until the show’s cancellation in its 20th season. The publication claims that the actor, who has since found success on NBC’s Black-ish, will be signed on for a single-year deal.

It’s unknown at this point whether Anderson plans to renegotiate his contract once the season is up or if he plans to exit the show once again.

Which cast members are returning for Law and Order season 21?

Anderson is one of two original cast members who have been approached since Law and Order announced its return. The other is Sam Waterston, who’s been a part of the show since season 5 and whose character, Jack McCoy, ranks among the most iconic in crime TV history. Waterston is reportedly still in discussions to return, but an agreement has not yet been reached.

Law and Order season 21 isn’t completely reliant on old faces, however. Hugh Dancy will be added to the cast as an Assistant District Attorney who collaborates with the police. Dancy is best known for his starring role in the beloved series Hannibal, where he plays a decorated FBI profiler. Dancy will be joining another newcomer, Jeffrey Donovan, who will play a veteran NYPD detective.

At the time of the show’s cancellation in 2010, other major cast members included Jeremy Sisto, S. Epatha Merkerson, Alana de la Garza and Linus Roache. Merkerson has since gone on to play a big part in another Dick Wolf show, Chicago Med, so it’s unclear whether she will juggle both roles. There have been no updates on the casting status of Sisto, de la Garza or Roache.
