Chicago Fire boss hoping to bring back SPOILER before season 10’s end
By Cody Schultz
It’s been quite an exciting season of Chicago Fire thus far with the writers taking full advantage of hitting the milestone season by finding a variety of ways to celebrate the show’s history.
From subtle nods to past storylines to the returns of characters who made their way back to the Windy City as part of some of the season’s bigger storylines — see Griffin Darden and Wendy Seager — the season has been a true celebration of the show’s past.
While the 200th episode has passed and we’re nearing the second half of the season, it appears the writers have no plans of slowing down when it comes to their celebration of the show’s legacy.
In fact, showrunner Derek Haas has recently confirmed his hopes to be able to pull off another major nod to season 1 by bringing back yet another character who played a pivotal role in the introduction of one of the show’s biggest mainstays.
Derek Haas hoping to bring back this Chicago Fire season 1 character
As longtime fans will recall, back in season 1 Herrmann (David Eigenberg) managed to convince Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Otis (Yuriy Sardarov) to invest in Molly’s Bar, a local bar that was in need of some TLC after catching fire.
Unlike some of Herrmann’s other investments over the years, the purchase of Molly’s proved to be one of his greatest decisions with Molly’s playing a key role in the history of the show as the backdrop to many memorable seasons and the heart of several storylines.

Given how crucial a role Molly’s has played over the years, it seems only fitting to discover that Chicago Fire showrunner Derek Haas is currently developing a comedic storyline that would feature the return of the original owner of Molly’s, who sold the bar to Herrmann and company way back in season 1.
As Haas revealed in a recent interview with TV Guide, the writers are working on a storyline that would bring back “the original owner of Molly’s who sold the bar to Christopher Herrmann way back in season one.”
While Haas noted the storyline is ” not set in stone yet,” he seems hopeful the writers might be able to find a way to bring Molly’s original owner back into the picture. We’ll have to wait to see if they’re able to make it happen, but we hope they are as we can’t think of a better way to celebrate the origin of Molly’s than by bringing back its original owner in a humorous way.
