Chicago Fire’s Stella Kidd named worst TV girlfriend of 2021

2021 is quickly nearing its end and the time has come for outlets to release their annual superlatives celebrating the best and worst the past year had to offer. While we’re typically thrilled to see Chicago Fire and its characters included on these end-of-year lists, we’re not quite sure what to make of one “honor” recently bestowed upon Chicago Fire‘s Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo).

In a recent Best and Worst Moments of 2021 feature, TVLine rolled out a new retrospective feature that celebrated everything from the best first kiss and ship of the season to the worst TV parents and lines of dialogue.

Among the many superlatives handed out was the title of Worst Girlfriend of the Year which was bestowed upon Stella Kidd. No explanation was given, just the title which has definitely raised some eyebrows among readers.

So is Stella Kidd really a bad girlfriend?

While season 10 hasn’t been Kidd’s brightest hour, Kidd has proven time and time again just how committed she is to her relationship with Severide and has been an incredible partner since the two first started dating one another.

Sure there are going to be ups and downs in a relationship and everyone will make mistakes at times, but overall Kidd has been an incredible girlfriend to Severide. While her communication might not have been the greatest in the first episodes of season 10, Kidd didn’t just skip town, she’s been pursuing her passion in helping to launch new Girls on Fire programs across the country.

And unless something has occurred which hasn’t yet come to light, her feelings for Severide have never wavered and she’s always been committed to their relationship and to his well-being as well.

So yes, 2021 might not have been Kidd’s shining moment, but we can name countless other characters who are far more deserving of the title of the year’s worst TV girlfriend than Kidd!
