FBI: Most Wanted has seen several cast members leave over the years and now it appears the Dick Wolf produced series is about to bid farewell to yet another member of its original cast.

Less than six months after the departure of Kellan Lutz, Wolf Entertainment’s hit drama will soon bid farewell to another member of its original cast as Deadline has confirmed star Julian McMahon will be departing FBI: Most Wanted ahead of the show’s season 3 finale.

McMahon is the third original cast member to depart the show in just three short seasons following the exit of Nathaniel Arcand in the show’s second season and Lutz’s departure early in season 3.

Is LaCroix leaving FBI: Most Wanted?

Unfortunately, Jess LaCroix is indeed leaving the FBI: Most Wanted team as a result of actor Julian McMahon’s decision to depart the show. Rather than recasting the role of LaCroix, a role which McMahon first originated in a backdoor pilot on FBI, the writers are crafting a story to write the character off of the show.

Although it’s unclear how exactly the writers are going to write LaCroix off the series, we’re optimistic the writers will not be killing LaCroix off the show which could leave the door open for McMahon to return in the future.

What is known is that McMahon’s final episode as LaCroix will air on March 8, 2022, with the show set to introduce a new character shortly after to help fill the void left by LaCroix’s departure.

Why did Julian McMahon leave FBI: Most Wanted?

So why exactly did Julian McMahon choose to leave FBI: Most Wanted after three seasons of playing special agent Jess LaCroix? According to a statement McMahon released to Deadline, the decision to leave the series was one which he made in order to pursue other opportunities.

It’s a decision McMahon is said to have come to during the early stages of production on season 3, one which led to him approaching executive producers Dick Wolf and Peter Jankowski about finding a way to craft an organic departure for his character.

"“Over the past few months, the producers of FBI: Most Wanted and I have had discussions about my departure from the show in favor of additional creative pursuits and the transition of my character Jess LaCroix,” McMahon said in a statement to Deadline. “These ongoing conversations have given us an opportunity to orchestrate a seamless and productive way for me to leave the show.”"
