Will Violet choose Gallo or Chief Hawkins?

Violet (Hanako Greensmith) is caught in a classic love triangle. She’s spent the last few seasons in a flirty dynamic with Joey Gallo (Alberto Rosende), but now it seems as though she’s going to get involved with Chief Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas).

The thing is, there’s pros and cons to each relationship. The character hasn’t really had a chance to reflect on who she should consider dating, but her decision to kiss Hawkins at the gala event has definitely raised some eyebrows from viewers.

Here’s what we know about Violet and some clues as to where things are headed.

Is Violet dating Chief Hawkins on Chicago Fire?

Violet and Gallo attended the same fire academy, and were always seemingly attracted to one another. They got into an argument in the season 8 episode “Hold Our Ground”, where Violet got on Gallo’s cash about not practicing correct protocol, but they made up by the end of the episode and eventually hooked up.

Several episodes later, the duo decided to start dating. Gallo clarifies that he wants to be in a non-exclusive relationship, and Violet states that she has no problem with that. When Violet decides to go on a date with someone else, though, Gallo gets mad and says he changed his mind about the open relationship. He then proposes marriage at random, and Violet turns him down.

The tables have turned in season 10 when Gallo started dating someone else and Violet realized she still had feelings for him. She pushed down these feelings when Chief Hawkins came around, and has been flirtatious with the higher-up ever since. Even after Gallo ended his relationship and tried to pursue Violet, she claimed to be uninterested.

Violet and Hawkins seem like a good match, especially when compared with the tumultuous past of Violet and Gallo, but their dynamic comes with different struggles. For one, Chief Hawkins is her boss, and the possibility of them dating could cause professional trouble for both parties. There’s also the fact that Violet and Gallo see each other more often, and this close proximity could tempt Violet away from a potentially career-damaging relationship.

It’s impossible to say for sure which direction Violet will go, especially since the actors and writers have kept future plotlines under wraps. That being said, the character’s journey towards romantic happiness has already led to some of her most exciting onscreen moments to date. We can’t wait to see more.
