Who is Anabelle Acosta on Chicago PD?
Anabelle Acosta was only in one season of Chicago PD, but her character left a sizable impression on Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer). Their romance was complicated from the start, with their being unable to fully divulge the details of their relationship to the rest of the IU.
The fragility of this romance was ultimately realized when Acosta’s character was taken out of the picture. While she remains alive in the world of Chicago PD, its unlikely we’ll be hearing from her anytime soon.
Here’s a rundown of Acosta’s character and what happened to her.
What happened to Camila Vega on Chicago PD?
Acosta plays Camila Vega. She met Halstead in the season 5 episode “Under Fire”, when the latter was investigating a kidnapping case and stumbled upon Camila’s brother, Luis, as a prime suspect. Halstead goes undercover to determine Luis’ guilt, and strikes up a relationship with Camila.
Even after Halstead comes out of his undercover mission, he continues to see Camila under the nose of the IU. He keeps her identity a secret, fearing that he will be scorned and perhaps even penalized for seeing a woman he met during a police investigation. He’s similarly cagey when it comes to Camila, as he neglects to tell her that he’s a cop.
The lies come to a head in the episode “Rabbit Hole”, as Halstead discovers that Camila has been hiring people to work as her drug dealers, and subsequently arrests her. It’s here that she finds out Halstead’s a cop, and considers revealing their romance in an effort to hurt his career. Fortunately, Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) visits her in jail and convinces her not to talk.

It’s fitting that Upton be the one to protect Halstead’s reputation, given that they eventually get engaged. Many fans consider Camila and Halstead to be one of the most underrated couples on the show, however, and the hope remains that the former be brought back in some capacity in the future.
If you want to see more of Acosta, you needn’t look far. The actress has appeared in several shows since her Chicago PD stint, including Quantico, Castle and Supernatural. She recently starred in the pilot Thirtysomething(else), a sequel to the popular 90s drama Thirtysomething.
