What does 24198 mean on Chicago Fire?
Chicago Fire gave fans a mysterious code during the season 9 episode “Funny What Things Remind Us”. Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) stumbled upon a man in an abandoned building, and rather than offer his name, he repeated the phrase “24198”.
The code was baffling to both firefighters, and it took the bulk of the episode to figure out what they meant. Could they be a firefighter code? The numbers to safety deposit box or safe?
Well, here’s what you need to know about the numbers “24198”.
24198 on Chicago Fire
Through a series of clues and dead ends, Boden and Severide discover that “24198” was the badge number of the man, who previously worked as a Chicago police officer. He suffers from dementia, and was unable to utter anything else. Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) runs the numbers through the system and discovers that the man’s name is Henry Sidwell (Peter Lawson Jones).
The incorporation of Trudy, a Chicago PD character, and various physicians from Chicago Med, makes the episode and the Sidwell mystery one of the standout crossovers in the One Chicago franchise. It didn’t quite reach the scale of the three-part “Infection” storyline from 2019, but it allow for some fun moments between characters.

Unfortunately, fans hoping for another three-part crossover will have to wait longer than was initially expected. Chicago Med showrunners Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider have confirmed that there aren’t plans to have all three shows crossover in the current TV season.
That being said, there will be smaller crossovers between Med and PD, or Med and Fire. Be sure to keep an eye out for them!
