Who plays Kylie Estevez on Chicago Fire?

Kylie Estevez has been a peripheral character throughout her stint on Chicago Fire, but it looks like she’s stepping up to handle a more pivotal role in season 10. Her bond with Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), is deepened in the episode, “Fire Cop”, where both characters navigate the responsibilities of the Girl on Fire program.

Given Kylie return, there are some fans who may be curious about the character, her tenure on the show, and who the actress is that plays her.

Is Kylie getting promoted on Chicago Fire?

Kylie is played by Katelynn Shennett. Most performers on the show have a lengthy resume of film and TV credits, but Shennett is the rare exception to the rule, in that Chicago Fire marked her first ever screen appearance back in 2020.

She debuted in the season 8 episode “I’ll Cover You”, where she established herself as an effective and eager student. She appeared in only one other season 8 episode, but tellingly, her episode count has gone up every season since. She appeared in six episodes in season 9, and a whopping eight episodes thus far in season 10.

In “Fire Cop”, Kylie sits Kidd down and acknowledges the latter’s desire to be lieutenant for the 51. She says that she appreciates what Kidd scarified to get the Girls on Fire program kickstarted, but that it may be time for her step away from her responsibilities with the program and focus on advancing her career.

In an effort to cajole Kidd into doing so, Kylie volunteered to take over her duties for Girls on Fire. Kidd is understandably taken aback, and touched, by the proposition, and its a testament to her confidence in Kylie that she takes it under consideration. The episode ends somewhat ambiguously, but we assume that Kidd will eventually take Kylie up on her offer.
