Who plays Stephanides on Chicago Fire?

Spiros Stephanides played a crucial role in the Chicago Fire episode “An Officer with Grit“. While he may be new to viewers, he seems to have ties with Herrmann (David Eigenberg) that goes back for years.

Granted, these ties were not on the best terms. Stephanides is an enigmatic figure throughout most of the episode, and its not clear until the end whether he’s going to do right by Herrmann. Fortunately, he does.

Some viewers may be curious about the character and the actor who plays him. Here’s what we know.

Who does Paul Dillon play on Chicago Fire?

Stephanides is played by Paul Dillon. The actor has been a fixture of film and television since he made his debut in the 1993 show Missing Persons (which is set, fittingly, in Chicago). From there, Dillon went on to appear in notable films like Blink (1994), Cutthroat Island (1995), and Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997). He also had uncredited roles in the cult classics Natural Born Killers (1994) and Fight Club (1999).

Dillon is not related to actors Matt and Kevin Dillon, despite sharing a surname.

Dillon has focused on TV work in the 21st century, and has appeared on some of the biggest crime dramas of all time. His resume includes guest stints on The Shield, The Closer, and CSI: Miami. It’s actually surprising to report that the actor had never appeared in a Dick Wolf show before Chicago Fire, given his pedigree.

The actor is terrific as Stephanides, the former owner of Herrmann’s bar, and who allegedly had mob ties in his youth. He asks Herrmann if he can bartend one more night, as he’s getting older, and a reluctant Herrmann agrees. While the regulars he brings in decide to stiff Herrmann on the bill, Stephanides shows up the next day with over $4K in tow. He did the right thing.

While the nature of the character suggests that his arc is finished, Dillon is slated to appear in the upcoming horror film Abandoned. The film stars Emma Roberts and Michael Shannon, and follows a young couple who moves into a farmhouse with their infant son. The longer they reside in the house, though, the more the mother succumbs to the disquieting setting.
