Ever since Jesse Spencer‘s character Matt Casey left the Windy City behind him in order to move to Oregon in the 200th episode of Chicago Fire, fans have been waiting to see Kara Killmer’s character Sylvie Brett might follow suit.

Spencer’s departure was a storyline that caught many fans by surprise due in large part to its timing, as the story came only a few episodes after Casey confessed his feelings for Brett and the pair decided to take their relationship to the next level.

In fact, just before Casey left town to visit the Darden brothers, Brett had cleared a few drawers for Casey at her place in yet another milestone moment for the couple.

The pair have strong feelings for one another and are invested in making their relationship work, deciding to give long distance a try. In the time since Casey has left town, Brett has dropped several updates as a means of keeping their relationship going off-screen for viewers. However, after the events of episode 15 saw Brett leaving town for an extended furlough, fans can’t help but wonder whether she’s left town for good.

Did Sylvie Brett leave Chicago Fire?

When looking back at Brett’s past relationship history, she has moved to a new city before in order to be with the special someone in her life so there definitely seems to be an understandable reason for concern among fans.

As fans will recall, after Kyle accepted a job in Indiana, Brett moved away from Chicago for a time in season 8 before breaking things off and moving back to the Windy City to rejoin her 51 family. Considering she’s now taken an extended furlough to visit Casey in Oregon and spend some quality time with him, should we be worried about her returning?

While there is no denying the pair have a special bond and we hope the pair remain together,  there have been no reports of Kara Killmer leaving Chicago Fire. Instead, it appears Brett is simply going to miss a few episodes due to the rumored real-life pregnancy of Kara Killmer.

Although NBC and Killmer have not confirmed the rumors, all signs seem to be pointing toward Brett’s departure in episode 15 being connected to Killmer’s maternity leave. It’s not uncommon for shows to write an actress’s character off-screen to accommodate their leaves and this seems to be the case.

It’s unclear exactly how many episodes Killmer might miss, but the good news is that there have been no reports of Killmer leaving the series meaning she should be back as Brett.
