Chicago Med is the youngest member of the One Chicago family. Well, the youngest that’s still active (Chicago Justice bowed out after just one season).

The medical drama has found a dedicated audience over the course of its history, though given how many storylines and exciting twists have occurred, it can be tough to determine how long its been making waves.

Here’s a complete rundown of Chicago Med and how many seasons the show has been on.

How many episodes of Chicago Med are there?

Chicago Med premiered on November 17, 2015. NBC originally ordered 13 episodes for the first season, but would go on to greenlight 5 more, which brought the season total to 18. It would be the lowest number of episodes in a single season until season 6, which contained only 16 due to COVID-related delays.

In total, there have been 7 seasons of Chicago Med. There have been 135 episodes in total, including the crossover events with Chicago Fire and PD. This means it still has a ways to go before it can reach its 200th episode, which Fire recently celebrated.

Med has already been approved for an 8th season, with all of the major cast member slated to return (Steven Weber has been the latest to renew his contract). There’s not yet been word on whether the show will continue past season 8, but showrunners and writers have not released any statements hinting at the show’s ending anytime soon.

The show has continued to pull in strong numbers , so its very likely that NBC will renew the show with a bulk order of several additional seasons, as they did last time (and have done with the other One Chicago shows). In the meantime, we can’t wait to see what happens in the season 7 finale.
