It’s no secret that Atwater is unlucky in love. The Chicago PD veteran has tried and failed to sustain a long term relationship, but various setbacks have gotten in the way. Nowhere was this more evident than with Celeste (Amanda Payton), the woman who left him when she found out that he’d been keeping his job a secret.

That being said, there’s still hope for Atwater. The actor who plays him, LaRoyce Hawkins, spoke on the character’s love sick outlook and dropped some major hints regarding the character’s new romantic prospects.

Here’s what you need to know.

Atwater may have a new girlfriend in Chicago PD season 10

Hawkins discussed Atwater during the recent One Chicago Day event on NBC. He not only cited a specific romantic partner as a possibility, but one that fans are already familiar with: Zora Scott (Deanne Lauvin). Zora is the sister of Chicago Med newcomer Dr. Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard), and has been a major presence on the show throughout season 7.

"“While we do know that Atwater needs love, and enjoys love”, Atwater reasoned. “I think Officer Zora will be a perfect fit for Intelligence. Now whether her and Kevin will find love — that’s really up to Kevin. Naturally, we know all of the partners in Intelligence are already partners. So if we are just one more partnership, no problem with me.”"

While we’re still getting to know Zora as viewers, the actor makes a pretty compelling case for why they should give dating a shot. Both characters showcase similar personalities, and their shared profession, police officer, would dispel any of the issues that Atwater had in his last relationship.

It would also allow Zora to assume a bigger role within the One Chicago universe, which seems like a direction that the producers and writers for both shows are already leaning. The ability to beef up the character on PD would only make her dynamic with Dylan Scott and the Med team stronger.

We can’t wait to see what happens between the two characters as the next season gets underway.
