Chicago Med has had more turnover than any One Chicago show this year. We’ve seen two long time characters depart at the beginning of the season, and we’ve newcomers like Stevie Hammer (Kristen Hager) exit prematurely.

The startling number of turnover has led some fans to question who might be returning. We’ve got confirmation that Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) is back in the mix after a strenuous offscreen recovery, and now photos for the upcoming episode have confirmed that we will get another doctor back in the mix.

Read on to find out who!

Is Dr. Blake leaving Chicago Med?

It turns out that Dr. Pamela Blake (Sarah Rafferty) will be coming back to Med following a brief absence. The character was last seen in the episode “The Things We Thought We Left Behind”, when she and Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) clashed with Randall Shentu (Johnny Wu) on how to best approach a liver transplant.

She then missed two episodes, without much in the way of an explanation from the writers. It was unclear whether she would return or was simply written out to accommodate for other storylines. This was a reasonable fear, especially given how quickly Dr. Hammer exited the show after being set up as a core member of the Gaffney medical team.

We’re thankful that Dr. Blake seems to be around for the long haul. Her constantly evolving bond with Marcel has been one of the most interesting developments in season 7, as well as her tough to gauge dynamic with her daughter, who also has feelings for Marcel.

She also provides a nice contrast to Marcel, who prefers to go with his gut and emotions in a lot of medical instances. It’s unclear whether the show will provide a reason for Blake’s absence during the last few weeks, or whether it will simply be glossed over. Given the relatively small amount of time that’s passed, the latter option may be the easier one.

Either way, we’re curious to see how she slots into the rest of the season.
