Is Dylan Scott leaving Chicago Med? (SPOILERS)

Chicago Med caught viewers off guard during the season 7 finale. While the show had its fair share of cliffhanger endings in the past, nothing could prepare fans for the deadly situation that Dr. Scott (Guy Lockard) and Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) were left in.

The duo were left trapped in a burning apartment building after Scott tried to defend a cop with a blown cover. They were boxed in on both sides, with seemingly no way to escape. This begged some big questions, of course:

Would Scott return for season 8? Will the good doctor make it out alive or perish in the blaze? Here’s what you need to know.

Did Dylan Scott die in Chicago Med?

Dylan did not die in the apartment fire started in the season 7 finale, but he does appear to be leaving Chicago Med. After his brush with death and the loss of Jo, who sadly died after the injuries she sustained from the gunshot.

After the fire, Dylan realizes that his ties to the Chicago community as a former cop will always prevent him from truly being a doctor first. For this reason, he goes to Goodwin and informs her that he has decided to leave Med to go someplace he can just be a doctor. He also says he simply needs a fresh start, as Med will always be where he met and lost Jo,

If there were any doubts about his exit, executive producer Andrew Schneider confirmed Lockard is indeed leaving the show but there is some good news. As Schneider told TVLine, “He’s a wonderful actor. He was great to work with, and we would welcome him back in the future,”
