One Chicago stars who have joined the MCU
One Chicago is an embarrassment of acting riches. From the central cast to the guest stars that have littered all three shows, the franchise has continuously delivered. It’s been fun to see these different personalities and acting approaches mesh, especially when the crossover events come into play.
That being said, One Chicago is not the only shared universe that these actors frequent. The One Chicago universe was launched in 2012 and the Marvel Cinematic Universe was launched in 2008, meaning they’ve spent most of their existences overlapping.
With this note in mind, here’s a roll call of the One Chicago stars who have pulled double duty in the MCU.
Brett Dalton
Brett Dalton’s stint on Chicago Fire was brief but memorable. He played Jason Pelham, the interim lieutenant who helped smooth over the departure of his predecessor, Casey (Jesse Spencer). That being said, Dalton is best known for his role on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The MCU show ran from 2013 to 2020, and Dalton was a main cast member during the first three seasons. He was relegated to recurring in the fourth season, but his transformation into the villain Hive marked one of the show’s most memorable twists.
Dominic Rains
Dominic Rains has been a steady presence on Chicago Med. He’s effortlessly charismatic in the role of Dr. Crockett Marcel, whether he’s dealing with patients or those in his personal life. Rains displayed a similar charisma during his eight appearances on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Despite having exponentially less screen time than Dalton, Rains was memorable as Kasius, the leader of the Kree Watch and the conspirator behind a plan (one of the show’s many) to destroy the human race. Fortunately, things don’t work out for Kasius.
Josh Segarra
Josh Segarra may not be part of One Chicago anymore, but none of us could forget his time as Justin Voight on Chicago PD. He perfectly tapped into the character’s troubled psyche, making us believe that he was the son of the toughest guy in the Windy City.
Segarra will be starring in the upcoming MCU series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. It’s hasn’t been announced which role he will play, but that’s common procedure for the franchise, as they prefer to keep the identities of the characters hidden as long as possible.
NEAR MISS: Patrick John Flueger
Patrick John Flueger is perfect as the hard-nosed Ruzek on Chicago PD. There’s an alternate timeline where he turned down the role, however, because he was cast as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in the MCU.
According to the Mary Sue, Flueger was on a short list of actors considered forThe First Avenger (2011) alongside John Krasinski and Chace Crawford. It’s a strange timeline to consider, especially given Chris Evans’ now iconic performance, but it’s definitely fascinating.
FINGERS CROSSED: Brian Tee
Of course, these are just the names that have linked to the MCU thus far. There’s still the chance that we could see dozens of other One Chicago actors trade in their badges and scrubs for capes.
Brian Tee is loved by all for his work on Chicago Med, but fans feel like the actor deserves to shine on a larger scale. While there’s been no news to officially link Tee to the role, fans have pushed for him to be cast as Namor in the upcoming Black Panther 2. There’s even been fan artwork posted online, which you can check out below!
