Chicago Med season 8 release date, cast, synopsis and more

Chicago Med season 7 finished the 2021-22 season as one of NBC’s top-rated scripted program and the One Chicago franchise’s medical drama shows no signs of slowing down!

Hot off another successful season, Chicago Med season 8 is coming together nicely with NBC working out new agreements with the cast and production kicking off as NBC prepares for the show’s return this season — which is quickly approaching!

As we look ahead to the return of the One Chicago franchise, we’ve rounded up everything we know about the Chicago Med season 8 thus far including the season’s release date, cast, synopsis, trailer, and more below.

Chicago Med season 8 premiere date

Chicago Med season 8 will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 8/7c on NBC. That same night, NBC will roll out the new seasons of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD with Med once again airing in the night’s opening hour.

The good news is that we’re not expecting any major departures in season 8 with most of the cast set to return for the new season of the show!

Among those already confirmed to be returning for season 8 are Marlyne Barrett (Maggie Lockwood), S. Epatha Merkerson (Sharon Goodwin), Oliver Platt (Daniel Charles), Nick Gehlfuss (Will Halstead) and Brian Tee (Ethan Choi).

We’re also expecting the returns of Dominic Rains (Crockett Marcel), Steven Weber (Dean Archer), Asjha Cooper (Vanessa Taylor), Guy Lockard (Dylan Scott) and Jessy Schram (Hannah Asher) as well as recurring players Sarah Rafferty (Pamela Blake), Johanna Braddy (Avery Quinn), Michael Rady (Matt Cooper) and Johnny M. Wuas (Randall Shentu).

Chicago Med season 8 synopsis

Currently, NBC has not released the official synopsis for Chicago Med‘s upcoming season; however, we do have a broader show synopsis to tide us over until a season 8 synopsis is released:

"Chicago’s top medical team saves lives, while navigating their unique interpersonal relationships."

At this time, NBC has not yet released a trailer for Med‘s upcoming eighth season and it’s likely we’re going to have to wait until closer to September before the official trailer arrives. As soon as a trailer for season 8 has arrived, we’ll be sure to update this piece!
