Cindy Herrmann (Robyn Coffin) was spot lit in a way that nobody saw coming in Chicago Fire season 11. She was diagnosed with cancer, which meant that she was going to have to undergo chemotherapy treatments.

It was a devastating revelation, not only for her husband, Herrmann (David Eigenberg), but the fans who had gotten to know the character over the past decade. Suddenly, a character who felt like the model of stability and safe home life was facing her own mortality.

Is Cindy still alive on Chicago Fire?

Fortunately, Cindy is not dead. Fans who are catching up with, or rewatching season 11 ahead of the show’s return, needn’t worry. The character is still alive and fighting her way through arduous chemotherapy treatments.

The storyline struck many as surprising, and some even theorized that the actress who plays Cindy, Robyn Coffin, was sick in real life (a theory that is, thankfully, untrue), but it has allowed different sides of both her character and Herrmann’s to shine through.

Herrmann, a guy who has no problem dealing with tough situations on the job, has showed off a more tender side to his personality. This is evidenced by the episode in which he shows a bizarre interest in 51 gossip, only to discover that Cindy asked him to collect gossip from around work so he could come home and tell her about it.

While Cindy’s death is certainly on the table as something the show could explore, we’re skeptical it will happen. It would not only be unbearably sad, but it would leave Herrmann in a situation where he has to raise all of his children alone.

It would, in a morbid way, make sense if the character were being written off the show, but David Eigenberg has made it clear that he’s with Chicago Fire to the very end, so there isn’t any need to give his character such dramatic events. Our hope, and prediction, is that Cindy makes it through her chemotherapy treatments successfully.
