Do these Chicago PD photos confirm Ruzek’s fate?

Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) is point man in the Chicago PD season finale. The character has been working undercover to ensure that Richard Beck (Lee Tergesen) and his followers don’t carry out a domestic terrorist attack.

There’s a lot riding on Ruzek’s shoulders, as the teaser for the finale mentions the risk of losing a few hundred lives if Beck is successful. The thing is, Beck may be more aware of Ruzek’s status than he’s letting on. Should we be worried about the officer ahead of the episode?

The promotional photos released by NBC do a lot to clarify what Ruzek will be getting up to during the episode. For one, he will have lots of scenes with Beck’s daughter, Samantha (Caitlin Mehner), who has seemingly been the only decent member of the group that Ruzek has been able to sniff out.

Ruzek feels that she’s being forced into participating due to her father’s domineering and abusive behavior, and he clocked as a possible witness, assuming the case makes it to court. The photos bear this out, as Ruzek and Beck can be sitting in an interrogation room and talking with Voight (Jason Beghe) as well as ADA Nina Chapman (Sara Bues).

This not only confirms that Samantha is willing to play ball, but that Ruzek has revealed he is an undercover officer. The photo that gives us the most concern, however, is the one of Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) looking fearful while standing in what appears to be a hospital.

Ruzek has been burning the candle at both ends, and given that things are finally reaching a place of parity between him and Burgess, we fear that he will suffer an injury or be put in danger in a way that puts the both of them to the best. Burgess has been through more than enough in the past few seasons.

Then again, Burgess could be reacting to Voight, as the teaser suggested the commanding officer goes down as a result of an exploding building. Only one way to find out…
