We asked AI who the best Chicago PD character is (and we agree)
Chicago PD lives and dies by its characters. Sure, the cases are exciting, but the thing that makes the show unique is the dynamics between the different cops, and the way they support each other through difficult situations.
Because all of the IU members are memorable, it can be difficult to step back and determine which of them tops the list of best PD character. Is it the tenacious Burgess (Marina Squerciati)? The slick Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger)? Maybe Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) and her endless well of one-liners?
We decided to ask the AI tool ChatGPT who the single best character on Chicago PD is, and while we expected the answer, we did have a hard time denying its case.
Who is the best Chicago PD character?
When asking ChatGPT to use the voice of a Chicago PD fan, here’s what it said:
"If we’re talking about the absolute best character on Chicago PD, there’s only one name that comes to mind, and that’s Sergeant Hank Voight, portrayed by the legendary Jason Beghe. This guy, he’s the backbone of the whole damn show!Hank Voight, he’s like a force of nature, a tornado in a police uniform. He’s got this unwavering determination and no-nonsense attitude that just commands respect. When he walks into a room, you know shit’s about to go down, and you better believe justice will be served, no matter the cost. But here’s the thing that sets Voight apart: he’s not just some tough guy with a badge. This man has layers, my friend. He’s got a complex past, a troubled soul, and demons that haunt him. That kind of depth, it’s what keeps us hooked, craving more. It’s what makes him human, flawed and relatable."

I mean, Voight is the backbone of the show. We struggle to think of a character who would leave bigger shoes to fill if they suddenly left the show, and we couldn’t come up with anyone. Voight is what unifies the other characters, whether they are leaving the IU a la Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) or struggling with events going on in their personal life, like Upton (Tracy Spiridakos). He plays a part of it all.
There are also fans who consider Voight to be the “Batman” of Chicago PD, which is another big indicator of how important he is to the appeal of the show.
