How old is Kevin Atwater on Chicago PD?
Kevin Atwater is a fan favorite on Chicago PD. He’s a straight shooter on the job, but his inner conflict regarding his profession has led to some issues in his personal life. It was his decision to keep his badge a secret that caused a relationship to crumble in season 9, yet his commitment to his friends and fellow officers helped to save people’s lives in the season 10 finale.
Given how long fans have known Atwater, some may be curious as to how old he might be. It can often be tough to tell the age of One Chicago characters because the franchise rarely attaches an exact age or birthday to them.
That said, we do have context clues that we can apply to figure it out.
How old is LaRoyce Hawkins on Chicago PD?
For starters, Chicago PD writers often like to align the character’s age with that of the actor. It makes things easy in terms of remembrance, and it ensures that actors don’t have to play several years older or younger than they actually are (thankfully we aren’t relying on Marvel de-aging tech here).
The actor who plays Atwater, LaRoyce Hawkins, is one of the actors who gets to play his own age. He was born May 4, 1988, which makes him just as old as Atwater at 35 years old. This tracks, as the character is meant to be around the same age as his IU peers.

This isn’t always the case on PD, as the character ages for Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Burgess (Marina Squerciati) prove. In both cases, the actors are tasked with playing characters who are a few years younger than they are in real life. Flueger, 39, is playing Ruzek at 34, and Squerciati, 39, is playing Burgess at 35.
We haven’t yet gotten information on what Atwater will be dealing with in season 10, but Hawkins has hinted at the possibility that the character could find a new love interest.
