Chicago PD: Is Hank Voight dating anyone?

Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is a busy man. The Chicago policeman has had to juggle the near death of one of his officers, Burgess (Marina Squerciati), as well as cover up the shooting that was done by another officer, Upton (Tracy Spiridakos).

These subplots, coupled with Voight’s generally grizzled demeanor, suggests that the character has very little time for love. Despite these stories, or perhaps because of it, there are some fans who question whether Voight has an active romantic life. Is he dating anyone?

We’ve decided to assemble all the clues and interviews alluding to Voight and his dating status.

Does Hank Voight have a girlfriend on Chicago PD?

Currently, Voight is single. The detective has been single for the entirety of the show’s 10 seasons, though he was married prior to the events of Chicago PD. It’s telling that the closest Voight has come to romance has been when he works alongside women who are similarly career-minded.

He struck up a particularly close relationship with Olivia Benson during a Chicago PD/Law & Order: SVU crossover that had many viewers shipping them. It turned out to be a romantic dead end, but it gave a hint as to what Voight may be looking for in a partner.

The workplace has also served as the backdrop for Voight’s intimate bond with Sam Miller (Nicole Ari Parker). The two officers connected over the death of Miller’s son, and the chemistry between them was so notable that Beghe and the rest of the cast began to field questions about a possible relationship.

Beghe hinted at the possibility that things could heat up between Voight and Miller during promo for season 9, but showrunner Rick Eid shut down the rumors during a subsequent interview with TV Line:

"“Voight and Miller have a strong bond, but it isn’t necessarily romantic”, Eid said. “They understand each other in a way that’s rare. Because of their jobs, their responsibilities, and their sacrifices, they’re able to connect on a deeper level.”"

Also worth mentioning is the bond between Voight and Anna Avalos (Carmela Zumbado). The two also bonded over shared losses, but there was debate among the fans as to whether they had a romantic bond or a father-daughter bond. Either way, things ended tragically, as a distraught Avalos shot Voight in the arm and was subsequent shot and killed in the season 9 finale.

As it stands, Voight is going to continue to make crime and his CPD team the main focuses of his life. There aren’t any tip offs as to a romance in season 11, but we maintain hope that he can find love at some point down the line.
