What’s next for Trudy Platt in Chicago PD season 11?
Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) is usually a peripheral character in One Chicago. She’s there to offer support and help others get through storylines that are traumatic and/or dangerous. Well, the season finales for both Chicago Fire and PD changed that.
Platt saw her co-worker, Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), and her husband, Mouch (Christian Stolte) get rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. While neither character was declared dead, they did not look like they were in good shape as their respective episodes ended. Where does this leave Platt heading into PD season 11?
Is Amy Morton returning to Chicago PD?
Not a great place, that’s for sure. Platt’s toughness is legendary among One Chicago fans, but seeing two people so close to her fight for their lives is going to be devastating. This isn’t the first time Mouch’s life has been in jeopardy, as he had a heart attack and briefly flatlined in Fire season 5. Still, the knowledge that he was bleeding out in his hospital bed, and his pulse was weakening, has us worried for both him and Platt.
We’re confident that Mouch will recover, but things may change for him and Platt in season 12. He is getting up there in age, and retirement is becoming more and more of a reality. It’s possible that he takes a step back from firefighting, or at the very least, discusses the possibility of taking a step back with Platt at some point.

The fact that Platt is dealing with so much emotionally will likely manifest on Chicago PD as well. She’s the one who usually comforts characters like Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) and Burgess (Marina Squerciati), so we might get instances in which the tables turn, and these younger officers are giving her advice on how to get through the day.
At the very least, we imagine Platt and Burgess will bond over the fact that they had someone close to them nearly die in the same hospital a few rooms apart.
