Looking ahead to the upcoming second season of CBS’s breakout drama Fire Countrythere are a lot of questions fans have about where the next season of the show might take the characters we met along the course of its first season. There is also a lot of curiosity among audiences regarding which members of the season 1 cast will or won’t be returning when season 2 makes its debut on CBS.

There are many cast members whose returns are all but certain. These include most of the show’s series regular and main cast members such as Max Thieriot, Stephanie Arcila, Diane Farr, Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Jules Latimer, and Jordan Calloway. However, the status of the show’s recurring characters isn’t quite as clear.

While we expect that the show will find a way to bring back many members of its amazing ensemble, there is a chance some familiar faces from season 1 might not be heading back for the show’s upcoming second season.

Our concerns about the future of some of the show’s recurring characters increase even more in knowing season 2 won’t be coming in 2023 and has been delayed to 2024.

There’s no telling how the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes will affect the show, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the creative teams have to condense their originally planned storylines which could led to some characters being cut from plots.

As we look ahead to Fire Country season 2, here are three characters we worry we might not see back in the new season of CBS’s hit series!

“A Cry for Help” – An internal investigator suspects Jake of being the serial arsonist setting recent fires, so Bode and the crew take it upon themselves to investigate, on FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, March 31 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+*. Will Zach Tinker be in Fire Country season 2?

If there is one character we’re nearly 100% certain won’t be back next season on Fire Country it’s Zach Tinker’s Collin O’Reilly. As fans will recall, we were introduced to Colin in the twelfth episode of season 1 as a bright-eyed new legacy recruit. It seemed like he might become a core member of the team, but instead, we discovered that he wasn’t who he presented himself to be.

As we discovered in episode 17, Colin was the arsonist who had been setting fires in the area and it’s something he has a history of doing. Not only was Colin the arsonist the FD had been looking for, but Colin wasn’t even his real name! Turns out his name was Alex Shawcross and he had made up the story about being the son of a decorated firefighter.

When we last saw him in season 1, he was being arrested for his crimes and we imagine he’ll be doing some serious time. Under normal circumstances, we’d easily rule out his return; however, with Bodie back behind bars there is a chance Tinker could make a cameo in season 2 with Alex and Bodie bumping into one another in prison.

Is Rebecca Mader leaving Fire Country?

If the creative team behind the show is wise, they won’t let Rebecca Mader go easily; however, there is a strong chance we might have seen the last of Mader given how things went down in the season 1 finale.

Introduced towards the middle of the season, Mader played Faye Stone, the founder, and CEO of private fire company Nozzle Fire Suppression. She quickly hits it off with Manny and the two become romantically entangled in the back half of the season. Not only do the pair become a romantic item, but Faye even offers Manny a higher-paying gig at her company and offers to bring Bodie on as well once he’s paroled to help provide him with a stable job.

Unfortunately, Faye gets in her own way and ends up blowing everything up toward the end of the season. First, she lets it slip to Vince and Sharon that Manny and Bodie are coming to work for her, then her company becomes responsible for a major fire after a series of missteps causing major friction between her and Cal Fire. After the events, Bodie rejects the offer as does Manny which leads Faye to break things off with him.

Given how things ended for Faye in season 1, there is a chance the show could write the character off in season 2 since Bodie is now back behind bars and Manny opted not to leave Three Rock and is no longer romantically involved with her. However, we’re optimistic Faye will stick around!

Will Kanoa Goo be in Fire Country season 2?

Another big mystery heading into the second season is whether we might see more of Kanoa Goo as Kyle, a pro swimmer who shares history with Gabriela.

At the end of the season when we met Kyle, it was clear he has feelings for Gabriela which hinted that a new love triangle could be coming for the characters. However, it’s since been confirmed that Gabriela is going to be taking some time to reflect after Bodie’s betrayal in the finale which has many wondering if that means Kyle won’t be back in the mix come season 2.

The door was definitely left open for Kyle to return and with Bodie behind bars, there seems to be more potential than ever for the show to explore the love triangle dynamic with Kyle, Gabriela, and Bodie. Because of this, we’re hoping Kyle will be back for season 2; however, there is a chance the writers could choose to write the character off during the break and that we might not see Kyle back when Fire Country returns for season 2.

With there being a strong possible the strike delays will lead to a shorter second season, it’s possible the creative team might not look to pursue a potential love triangle with Bodie, Gabriela, and Kyle, and instead look to focus entirely on Gabriela and Bodie’s relationship with jail being enough of an obstacle for them to work through.
