Chicago PD season 11: Will Patrick John Flueger return as Adam Ruzek?

Will Adam be back for Chicago PD season 11? This is the burning question that has been at the forefront of fans’ minds ever since the show signed off in May with a season finale that left Adam’s future very much up in the air.

In the season 10 finale, Adam was shot in the chest by Samantha Beck’s son, Callum, and left for dead after she grabbed Callum and fled the scene of the crime. Fortunately, Adam was able to make a call to Burgess which allowed the team to make it to him in time to get him to Med for emergency treatment.

Our last update of the season was that Adam was getting treated at the hospital, with his future unclear as no additional update was provided on his condition before the season came to a close. Given how Chicago PD season 10 ended, fans have been worrying about Adam’s future on the show but should fans be concerned about Patrick John Flueger leaving the show?

Is Patrick John Flueger coming back for Chicago PD season 11?

At this time, NBC has not released the official cast list for Chicago PD season 11 but it is expected that all of the show’s series regulars will be returning for season 11 including Patrick John Flueger. This is further supported by the fact that no member of the cast has announced their departure from the show during the offseason, hinting that they will all indeed be coming back next season.

While Adam was in bad condition when he made it to Med, deleted photos from the episode indicated he had pulled through surgery and was recovering from his injury. It was likely this scene was cut so that the show could keep a larger sense of mystery among fans regarding his fate.

It’s also worth noting that Adam is one-half of the show’s sole remaining romantic storyline, and we can’t imagine the show would write the character off just for shock value given how crucial Burzek is to the show. Simply put, there are so many more stories that can be told with Adam still in the picture than if the writers had decided to kill Adam off.

Of course, we’ve seen shocking exits many times before so there is a chance something could pop up between now and when season 11 begins production. However, at this time, all signs point towards Patrick John Flueger returning as Adam in season 11!
