The Good Doctor is no stranger to introducing and bidding farewell to new characters. Season 6 introduced Dr. Danica “Danni” Powell, portrayed by Savannah Welch, as a new resident. However, after just eight episodes, Danni’s journey on the show came to an unexpected halt, leaving fans curious about the reasons behind her departure.

Throughout her brief stint at St. Bonaventure Hospital, Danni’s character exhibited an intriguing blend of unorthodox medical practices and a steadfast commitment to her personal moral compass. Her actions often deviated from the established rules of the hospital, reflecting a strong-willed and independent spirit. This aspect of her character was exemplified in a pivotal moment during Episode 11, where Danni embarked on an unauthorized surgery to help an old Navy friend. In a daring move, she utilized supplies she had procured by questionable means from the hospital itself.

However, the unauthorized surgery did not escape the watchful eye of Dr. Audrey Lim, the Chief of Surgery. Lim’s arrival at the scene led to the stark realization that Danni’s actions had crossed a line. As a result, Danni’s employment at St. Bonaventure Hospital came to an abrupt end, with Lim forced to make the difficult decision of terminating her employment.

While Savannah Welch’s departure from The Good Doctor may be attributed to her initial status as a recurring character, the narrative arc of Dr. Danni Powell’s unconventional approach to medicine and the subsequent fallout from her actions played a pivotal role in shaping the character’s departure.

And there you have it — these are the three characters whose absence we will undoubtedly feel in the upcoming seventh season of The Good Doctor!
