It’s been a while since we’ve seen Monica Raymund in Gabriela Dawson. Is there a chance that we could see her return in Chicago Fire season 12?
When it comes to OG characters, one that many fans miss is Gabriela Dawson. She quickly made a mark as a paramedic who just wanted to do right by her patients, even if it meant putting her career on the line. Then she got into the Fire Academy and changed career track, but still put victims before everyone and everything else.
Of course, it was her romance with Matt Casey that had fans drawn in. After a bit of would-they-or-won’t-they, they ended up getting together and getting married. Like so many other characters on the series, their relationship wouldn’t last.
The last time we saw Dawson was back in the eighth season. Casey has certainly moved on since then, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing for Dawson if she returns, right? Is there a chance that Monica Raymund could be in Chicago Fire season 12?
Will Monica Raymund be in Chicago Fire season 12?
Of course, at this point, it’s all speculation. The writers haven’t gone back to the writers room as they’ve been on strike since May. The actors joined in July, so there isn’t even the chance for anyone to discuss plotlines for the future.
It’s unlikely that we’ll see Dawson return, though. The biggest storyline for Casey recently has been him moving away from Chicago to care for the Griffin boys. He has been back with Firehouse 51 now and then, though, and the door at the end of season 11 looked open for him to return. However, not with Dawson. His storyline is focused on his relationship with Brett now.
If Dawson did return, it could set up for some interesting storylines, but it does look like Casey has moved on from his marriage to her. Plus, Brett and Dawson were close friends, and it would be a little eye-rollingly obvious to bring Dawson back just to have some sort of fight between the two of them over a guy. I think we’ve all moved on from that teen drama storyline.
Plus, Raymund has shown no signs of wanting to come back to the show. Dawson’s exit was Raymund’s choice, and the exit was written in a way that would allow for Dawson to be away for long stretches of time. After all, there is always a disaster somewhere.
As of now, it doesn’t look like we’ll see Monica Raymund back in Chicago Fire season 12. Never say “never,” though.
