While Chicago Fire was much flashier in its season finale cliffhanger, which left fans with some major burning questions, Chicago PD did a solid job of ending the season with several lingering questions.Â
Some of these questions stemmed directly from the events that played out in the two-part season finale, while others were loose ends the finale failed to tie up before the show signed off for the summer. From the shocking truth about Shari’s role in Lila’s murder to major turning points for Atwater and Ruzek, the final episodes of the season set the stage for what could be one of the most emotionally charged seasons of Chicago PD yet.Â
While fans wait for news about what’s next for the Intelligence Unit, there are several lingering storylines we’re especially eager to see addressed when season 14 arrives. As we look ahead to Chicago PD season 14, here are the four biggest questions we’re hoping the new season will answer!Â

Is Imani’s sister going to jail?Â
Of course, the most pressing question on the minds of fans following the season 13 finale is whether Imani’s sister, Shari, will be heading to jail for the murder of Lila.Â
In the closing moments of the finale, Voight and Imani met up in a secluded area where Voight confirmed to Imani that Kirby did not kill Lila; Shari did. The news was not surprising to Imani, as she picked up on how her sister had mentioned that killing her would be just like Lila, but Voight confirmed the suspicion via the DNA testing he had the lab run off the record.Â
The pressing question on Imani’s mind was what these findings would mean for her sister; specifically, would the sister she’s spent the last several years searching for be ripped away from her again? It was a more than understandable question to ask and one we hope to get answers for as season 14 begins.Â

Should we give up on hoping Voight has changed?Â
That leads us to our next question: Has Voight truly turned over a new leaf, or should we finally give up on hoping that he’ll be able to change his ways and stop coloring outside the lines?Â
This is one question we should get a sense for early in the season, as Voight’s handling of the whole Shari situation will be quite telling. While we understand not wanting to rip Shari away from Imani after she was finally reunited with her sister, the reality is that Shari murdered an innocent woman in cold blood and was fully prepared to do the same to Imani. This should not be swept under the rug and she needs to answer for her crimes, though our hope is that this might come with Shari being ordered to undergo inpatient or outpatient psychiatric treatment.Â
We know Voight will want to protect Imani, but hopefully he’ll see that the best way to do so is by making Shari answer for her crimes and get the help she needs. Voight making that decision would show he’s indeed changed for the better and realizes he can’t keep covering up crimes and coloring outside the lines to get the outcome he wants.Â

Can Tasha and Atwater go the distance?Â
One of the biggest developments of Chicago PD season 13 came with the introduction of Tasha Fox as a love interest for Atwater. The pair reconnected in the field early in the season, and sparks quickly flew between the pair before Tasha revealed she was heading to Miami to accept a new position.Â
It looked like the relationship was over before it ever really began, but then Tasha made a return to Chicago and dropped a major bombshell: she was pregnant!Â
After getting the news, Atwater had a lot to wrap his head around. Not only was he about to become a father, but the mother of his child lived thousands of miles away in Florida. As season 13 came to an end, Tasha returned to Chicago once again, and the pair finally began to talk through their plans. The conversation ended with Atwater asking her to move back to Chicago so they could figure things out together.Â
Atwater’s suggestion was that she stick around in Chicago and they take it day by day, as he assured her he was committed to being there for her and raising their baby together. As we look ahead to season 14, we hope to see the writers put a real focus on Atwater and Tasha’s storylines by exploring their relationship once Tasha moves back to Chicago.Â
After so many years of relationships that went nowhere, we’re hoping that the writers will finally give Atwater a true shot at happiness with Tasha and their instant family storyline. There is a clear mutual respect and connection between the pair, and we hope that season 14 will prove the pair can go the distance.Â

How will the death of his dad impact Ruzek going forward?
Chicago PD season 13 was an interesting season for Ruzek for many reasons. The character was sidelined for a large part of the season to accommodate Patrick John Flueger’s leave of absence, and to explain his absence, the writers leaned heavily on a storyline introduced in season 12. After Ruzek was away for a few episodes, the writers finally revealed that Ruzek’s father’s health had declined and he took some time off to be with his father.Â
When Ruzek returned, we learned that his dad’s health had gotten much worse and the doctors were only giving him a few months to live. We fully expected that Bob would not survive the season, and our instincts were correct as he sadly passed away in the nineteenth episode of the season. What we did not expect was that the show would gloss over Bob’s passing by shying away from truly exploring the fallout of his death in the final episodes of the season.Â
Bob died in the closing moments of episode 19, and then the show basically acted as if nothing had happened in the following two episodes as the focus shifted to Imani. There was no real follow-through in getting to see how Ruzek was processing his father’s death, and we didn’t even get a moment of someone on the team addressing his loss.Â
We know that Bob was such an impactful figure in Ruzek’s life and hope to see the show give him the chance to grieve his loss in season 14. It doesn’t need to be the root of Ruzek’s story arc in season 14, but his father’s death will surely have some type of impact on him, and we’re eager to see how the death of his father will influence his future, especially on the family front.Â
