Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) received shocking news in the Chicago Med episode "Baby Mine..." The doctor awaited tests to determine if she could be a surrogate for her sister, but it turns out that she was already pregnant with her own child. Asher knows who the child belongs to, but this doesn't mean the character will end up settling down with him when all is said and done.
"Baby Mine..." suggests that Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) is the father of Asher's baby. It makes sense, given the timing of their relationship and when they broke up. The characters have had an exceptionally bumpy season 10, thanks in large part to the personal demons Ripley has dealt with both on and off the job.
Asher believes Dr. Ripley is the father

The impulse reaction would be to assume that Asher and Ripley make up in the aftermath of this pregnancy news, and get back together. It would make plenty of sense. The characters do still care about each other. Ripley has been on the mend since his mid-season meltdown, even if he spent a large chunk of "Baby Mine..." struggling to get his godson to go to sleep.
The thing is, Asher and Ripley represent only two corners of the love triangle. Sure, they appear to be on the brink of having a child, but Asher's connection with Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) cannot be taken for granted. These two bonded well before Ripley showed up, and it was Dr. Archer (albeit, with the aid of an accidental LSD dose) that encouraged Asher to break things off with Ripley when she'd realized she was unhappy.
Asher and Archer's connection is such that it we have spent most of Chicago Med season 10 on the fence about which doctor Asher will settle down with. Will she attempt to repair things with Ripley or will her emotional bond with Archer win out? The show has done a good job of keeping us guessing, especially given much fans seem to love Asher and Archer as a pairing.
Asher and Archer have grown closer

We expected the love triangle to carry out for the foreseeable future, but Asher's pregnancy changes things. The character is going to have to make some tough life decisions, and assuming she chooses to settle down with Ripley or Archer (there's always the possibility that she chooses to go it alone), it's a decision that will likely be made (or at least teased) in the season 10 finale.
Ripley being the presumed father of the baby is huge, and he will likely play a role in the baby's life regardless of whether him and Asher get back together. The characters do not feel as though they have arrived at a place where a romantic reconciliation seems natural, though. Between Ripley and Archer, Asher has grown closer to the latter during the second half of season 10.
We don't presume to know what will happen in the future, but we are confident that the love triangle that how powered Chicago Med's tenth season is coming to a close, and decisions will soon be made about the future of these characters' lives as they embark on new chapters.
Chicago Med's season 10 finale airs May 21 on NBC.
